Sketches

Freehand drawing as a working method - where a design is thought through before it is drafted.

Why the studio still draws by hand

A meaningful architectural concept is easier to find with a pencil than a cursor. Freehand studies let an idea be tested, argued with and thrown away quickly - long before it costs anything to change.

The drawings below are working sketches, not presentation art: proportion tests, section ideas, site responses and quick options explored in conversation with the client. Many of them are the first version of a building that now stands.
